Description
A woodlander hailing from Japan, very cold hardy and used to large amounts of snow, Anemonopsis will grow well in a shaded, rich substrate location.
The bowled shaped, lavender flowers are resembling small lotus flowers (if you look at them upside down) and are gracefully nodding atop the flowering stems in late summer. Their beauty is hard to describe in words.
A good companion for Glaucidium palmatum, various Thalictrums, Jeffersonia dubia, woodland peonies, Kirengeshoma, Disporums and other let’s say, unusual woodland plants.
Germination: good with fresh seeds (which usually mature somewhere in November). Sown and provided a good cold/moist stratification (outdoors in our case), there is reasonable germination in the spring. Otherwise, the seeds would need to be kept moist.
