Description
The peacock anemone blooms in the spring with vivid red, poppy-like flowers characteristic of the wildflowers meadows in various Mediterranean region (they can also be pink or purple). The plants grow from rhizomatous tubers and will go dormant after flowering.
In colder climates they can be grown as annuals, lifting up the tubers in the fall and planting back in the spring. First, we have to obtain the tubers…
Germination: best when sown in autumn and overwintered outdoors. The seeds need a warm period of 3-4 weeks, followed by 2 months of cold (fridge like, not below zero). Sow accordingly.
