Description
Not your usual woodlander, Collinsonia canadensis is one of the few perennials to flower in late summer in the shaded parts of the forest; the foliage has a fragrance reminding of citronella and the tubular flowers appear on elongated stems in terminal clusters and reveal their beauty only on close inspection.
Not overly ‘ornamental’ but definitely an interesting addition for the woodland corner. A species from the Native Peoples repertoire of medicinal plants (leaves, rhizomes).
Gemination: 3 months of cold/moist stratification (it can be done in the fridge).
