Description
Still given by some as Disporum flavens, this is an elegant Disporum (like all of them) with tall flowering stems adorned with large yellow, bell shaped flowers somewhere in mid May. It flowers at the same time with various Chinese Epimediums with which combines very nice in a part-shaded location.
Dark blue fruits are following in the fall, contrasting nicely with the yellowing foliage.
One species that I wouldn’t be without in the garden! A good, tough and showy plant which remains in a tight clump.
Germination: seeds need to be kept moist; sown in late fall and provided cold/moist over the winter, they will germinate well in late spring; if sown later it will probably germinate in the second spring. Easy to grow from seeds and the seedlings are fast growing.
