Description
The glacier lily it is one of the first species to flower after snow melt (at high elevation this can mean July).
Bright, yellow flowers with strongly reflexed petals; a delight to see them growing wild, but they are easily grown and floriferous in the garden as well.
Germination: easy after a warm/cold moist cycle followed by a cold one. Best sown fresh or any time – if the seeds were kept moist! Dry kept seeds may germinate in the second year after sowing but in lower percentage. Grow in the same pot for 2-3 years.
I have obtain good results with ‘direct sowing’ in the garden in a moist location (at the proper time of course). For those who don’t want more pots around or are not very experienced, I recommend to follow this direction.
