Description
A seeds strain selection from Penstemon grandiflorus, a species from the US prairies with extremely large, lilac flowers and A very particular glaucous foliage. It is considered by many as the “largest and showiest of the North American prairie penstemons”.
From this seeds strain one can obtain flowers in various colors from the regular lilac to purple and white. In the featured image a flowering plant I obtained from these seeds.
It is an easy to grow and fast flowering species growing well in full sun locations, in poor, rocky soils/well drained; an excellent for pollinators (hummingbirds, bumblebees). Mentioned as a short lived perennial, so regular sowing may be needed or hope to self-sow in place.
Germination: sow in late fall/ early winter (cold/moist stratification).
