Description
The obedient plant is a well known garden plant, said to spreading too much sometimes, but also a very useful pollinator plant for mid to late summer.
The pink to lilac snapdragon-like flowers are arranged in upright, showy terminal spikes that open from bottom to the top. They are visited by a variety of pollinators.
Each individual flower when pushed in any one direction will temporarily remain in the new position, hence the common name.
A very good plant for sun to part-shaded locations, in average to moist soils; when kept on the dry side it will not spread much.
Germination: sow in late fall/winter outdoors or provide cold/moist stratification in the fridge and sow in the spring (2-3 months of cold/moist stratification).
