Description
A native, multi-stem, vigorous Rubus which forms colonies in a variety of situations from shade to sun. The white flowers are followed by red and later black shiny fruits: abundant and delicious, especially when picked while hiking 😊 Pollinators and high wildlife value. The fruiting stems are reddish and with prickles, the new canes are glaucous, very ornamental in the winter.
Not a shrub for the regular size garden but useful for naturalizations, large wildlife gardens.
Germination: sow the seeds when you get them and be patient, like with most Rubus species it may take longer than 1 year to germinate because of the impermeabile seed coat. Sowing fresh seeds usually give better results. To improve the germination try to scarify the pyrenes before allowing the required cold/moist stratification period.
