Description
Corydalis cava is a species slightly larger in size than Corydalis solida. The flowers are similar but the bracts are entire in Corydalis cava, which also has larger leaves.
It has an unusually shaped (and hollow) tuber which increases in size every year. When I’ll dig one out I’ll take a picture 😊 Much slower to increase than C. solida.
This form has pure white flowers. There is Corydalis cava ssp. marschalliana growing not far away, so some nice hybrids are not impossible.
Germination: explained in detail here – Growing Corydalis solida & allies from seeds.
Sow the seeds in pots and follow the instructions. The seeds can also be sown directly in the garden (incorporate the seeds into the ground, close to a perennial/fern, or anywhere else you know no new plantings will be done to disturb the seedlings coming up next spring and watering is provided during dry spells).
