Description
This is a robust Corydalis with especially large leaves (comparing with other Corydalis). It is considered a tetraploid of Corydalis cava and sometimes given only as C. marschalliana. Definitely a Corydalis collector’s item, and most self-sown seedlings seem to come true (they are easy to recognize after the very large leaves comparing with C. solida and also the when in flower after the entire bracts).
The color of the flowers it is usually pale yellow (think butter) or a very light rose (a so called fo. purpurea-lilacina). It certainly stands out in the spring; the rabbits seem to have a preference for its large foliage unfortunately.
There is C. cava fo. alba and also C. solida plants nearby, so hybridizing maybe be possible.
Germination: explained in detail here – Growing Corydalis solida & allies from seeds.
Sow the seeds in pots and follow the instructions. The seeds can also be sown directly in the garden (incorporate the seeds into the ground, close to a perennial/fern, or anywhere else you know no new plantings will be done to disturb the seedlings coming up next spring and watering is provided during dry spells).
