Description
A most delicate woodland plant with finely divided foliage into rounded leaflets which resemble those of Thalictrum, hence the names. Inflorescences with 3-6 white, rarely pinkish, flowers in the spring with a central boss of yellow stamens.
Besides the flowers, Rue anemone is a very nice foliage plant having an airy appearance. It combines well with heavy textured plants such as Hosta, Solomon’s seal, Hellebores, Clintonia…or any other woodland plants. It prefers a rather moist location.
Germination: the seeds need to be sown right away or kept moist (W. Cullina’s advice) and allowed a warm-cold cycle for dormancy breaking. When handled like this there is good germination in the spring and the seedlings are not difficult to grow.
