Description
A very cold hardy Pulsatilla with bright violet, nodding flowers; the flowers, stems and back of the leaves are covered in hairs giving it a fuzzy look.
Named in the honor of botanist Misao Tatewaki who explored extensively the Sakhalin, Kurils Isl. region and not only.
Images and a bit more info, it seems this species enjoys a slightly acid subtrate: https://www.srgc.org.uk/forum/index.php?topic=15333.15
A rare opportunity to grow this interesting species from wild collected seeds.
Germination: all Pulsatilla germinate best when sown fresh, but there are exceptions. I had few seeds of P. tatewakii few years ago and, like with the usual late arrivals, I sown them somewhere in late January-Feb. with GA3 treatment and they had good germination. The seeds may germinate even without GA3 at +/- 15C
Methods for preparing and using GA3 on the Germination page.
