Description

The American cranberry, although a small size plant, stands high as one of the symbols of Canadian wilderness. This most often trailing shrub, can be found growing in wet, acidic places like wetlands, swamps, in Northern, cooler regions of Canada and US.

The usual trailing habit with thin, graceful branches, scarlet fall colour and the large fruits makes this plant a great addition in a bog garden. So, those in regions with cool summers and a good location, do not hesitate to grow it.

Germination: best sown in the fall outdoors – cold moist stratification for at least 3 months required. Sow in an acidic substrate.
