Description
I think that the common name of this species reflects better its ‘nature’ – it resemble a large saxifrage with very nice leathery, shiny leaves in a basal rosette and flowering stems with small inflorescences/flowers white or pinkish. The purplish fruits are very conspicuous and ornamental somewhere in late July/ August (in the feature image).
The Leatherleaf saxifrage will fit well in the humid nooks of the rockery, pond edges and other moist locations in the garden.
Germination: most probably with cold/moist stratification; the seeds are very fine, therefore sow superficial (cover the seeds with a thin layer of small gravel, grit, perlite…).
